Steam Powered Tesla, Faraday Generator Part 1
This is part 1 of my Instructable combining Tesla's Steam oscillator and a linear induction coil.
This idea came about after seeing the little girl who invented the flashlight that charges from the warmth of your hand. I remembered the shake lights and then I watched a special on tesla's earthquake machine. I put 1 and 2 together and 3 was born.
I have been toying with this idea for a few months and I think I have a good working diagram. Any help will be accepted and greatly appreciated as I am not an electronics major, just a tinkerer.
Tesla's oscillator used pressure from steam and spring/compressed air, to move a piston creating mechanical energy to turn a generator. This set of Instructable's will show the process in which I will attempt to use the oscillation of steam and spring/ compressed air to generate an electrical impulse straight from a linear coil.
This generator should be able to power small lights and charge small appliances and should be small enough to carry backpacking or to be distributed in the 3rd world.
like I said any help will be accepted and appreciated, I would like to try it with PVC for the oscillator but in a controlled space, the original tesla oscillator got upwards of 200 degrees and 400psi and I don't want it to explode. As for the steam coil I am thinking copper or aluminum tubing in coil to be placed in fire and a reservoir using the heat itself to pull water through the coil and draw steam back to the reservoir to condense. I am submitting this for consideration in the energy contest so please vote
The Experiment
Tesla's oscillator could run @ 350lbs of pressure and power 50 incandescent lamps, several arc lights, and a Varity of motors.
Tesla striped down his oscillator to remove as much lost energy from mechanical parts as was possible. This goes even further. the only moving part is the magnet. the diagram above shows A possible design and use. but lets take that even further think hybrid car engines. Though we would have to change the way we build an engine block, if we could embed an induction coil in or around the cylinder, and magnetize the piston, the act of turning the crankshaft itself would generate electricity at possibly higher rates than an alternator. Think what this could do for hybrid gas mileage.
If this technology could be adapted to use in 2 or 4 stroke engines it could revolutionize the auto and personal electricity generating industries.
The Experiment:
create a reciprocating/oscillating generator using simple, cheap, and/or recycled materials
use some system being compressed air or looped steam to run said generator
measure voltage at different psi and/or different frequency oscillations
This is just a start to a host of projects i'm probably not qualified to undertake but i hope this idea will spark others
