Gently Cut a Slot
Using a utility knife with a sharp blade, cut a long slit and 2 short ones across the top of the long slit.
Open the Slot
Using needle nose pliers, gently draw the back of the plier along the slit to open it a bit. Do not press to deep.
Fold Over the Sharp Edges
Using the needle nose pliers, gently grab the edge of the slit and fold it over a bit. Work along the edge of the slir gently folding the metal over so that it stands up a bit.
Flatten the Edges
Using a dowel, push on the bent upright edges away from the slot and flatten the metal. Be sure to use care as the metal will be sharp and this step should create a non sharp edge along the slot.
Finished Cap
After bending the edges over, using the dowel, continue to press down on the edges so that they are flat and the cap will be completed.
Finished Bank
Put the cap back on the bottle, that should have been washed out first, and the bank is complete.
