Have you been wanting to do something fun with cardboard? Or you're a fan of "Star Trek" and you want to create something fun to sit out for show and tell? Well, this might be a fun project! You could do it yourself, with a friend or for a friend!

Supplies

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Knife (preferably an exacto knife or utility knife)
  • Acrylic paint
  • Grey spray paint
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun

Draw the Main Saucer Section Circle

1590202857560.JPEG

Draw two large circles using a large plate for tracing.

Draw a Second Size of Circle for the Saucer

1590202857068.JPEG

Draw, onto cardboard, another circle that is a little amount smaller than the first one drawn.

Create a Third Sized Circle for the Saucer

1590202857412.JPEG
1590202857131.JPEG

Draw another two circles a little bit smaller than the circles drawn in the last step. Cut all of the circles out with a knife. When you glue the saucer circles together, they should look like the picture above.

Glue the Two Largest Circles Together

1590202857442.JPEG

Glue the two largest circles together that were drawn in the first step.

Glue the Largest Circles to the Second Largest Circles

1590202857368.JPEG

Glue the combination of the two largest circles to the second largest circles that were drawn in the second step.

Glue the Last of the Circles Together

1590202827628.JPEG

Glue the last two circles to the combination of the circles already glued together.

Draw the Section for the Main Bridge

1590202827496.JPEG

Draw a mushroom shape onto the cardboard and cut it out. It should be smaller than your hand.

Glue the Mushroom Shape to the Saucer

1590202827976.JPEG

Glue the mushroom shape to the top of the saucer.

Create the Main Bridge

1590202747306.JPEG

Draw an oval with one flat edge. Draw a second oval that is small enough to fit inside the oval with the flat edge (the smaller oval should be about the same size as your thumb).

Glue the Seperate Pieces of the Main Bridge

1590202747977 (2).JPEG

Glue the separate oval-shaped pieces together.

Glue the Main Bridge Section to the Saucer

1590202747846.JPEG

Glue the two pieces, that were glued together in the last step, to the mushroom shaped piece that was already glued to the saucer.

Create a Large Triangle

1590202827772.JPEG
1590202827793.JPEG

Draw a large funnel shape onto cardboard and cut it out. Glue it to the middle of the saucer so that it is pretty much lined up with the mushroom shape.

Add the Stand to the Funnel Shape

1590202827417.JPEG
1590202827858.JPEG

Draw two ramp shapes that are small enough to fit underneath the funnel shape. Glue both together, then glue it underneath the funnel shape.

Create a Short Funnel Shape

1590202827808.JPEG
1590202827477.JPEG

Draw a shorter funnel shape onto cardboard. Cut it out and glue it to the end of the ramp-shaped piece located underneath the saucer.

Create the Main Section of the Secondary Hull

1590202827454.JPEG
1590202792032.JPEG

Draw a shape that looks similar to a head and shoulders. This should be almost as wide as the saucer section, but no larger in size.

Add a Stabler for the Saucer

1590202792302.JPEG
1590202747265 (2).JPEG

Draw a rectangle small enough to fit in between the saucer and the secondary hull section. Glue it in its place centered in between the saucer and the secondary hull.

Create the Base for the Warp Engines

1590202791884.JPEG
1590202791752.JPEG

Draw four small rectangles that are as wide as the "shoulder" shape of the secondary hull.

Glue the Base of the Warp Engines

1590202792351.JPEG

Glue the bases for the warp engines onto the ends of the "shoulder" shapes of the secondary hull.

Adding Dimesion to the Secondary Hull

1590202747401 (2).JPEG
Annotation 2020-05-23 110935.png

Draw an oval the same size as the "head" shape of the secondary hull. Draw a line through it so that it looks like the picture above. Cut it out and glue it to the "head" shaped part of the secondary hull so that it tips up.

Create the Warp Engines

1590202792208.JPEG
1590202792015.JPEG

Draw four large skinny rectangles onto cardboard and cut them out. These will be the warp engines.

Round the Edges of the Warp Engines

1590202792229.JPEG
1590202792051.JPEG

Round every edge of the rectangles so that it looks like the picture above. Then glue them into pairs so that it's two separate pieces.

Glue the Warp Engines to the Ship

1590202791868.JPEG

Now glue them to the warp engine bases so that there is more of the warp engine sticking out of the front side of the bases.

Add Dimension to the Warp Engines

1590202747725.JPEG
1590202747642 (2).JPEG

Draw another two rectangles that are a size smaller than the normal warp engine rectangles. Round the edges, then cut them out. Hot glue them to the top of the warp engines.

Spray Paint the Ship

1590202747441.JPEG

Spray paint the whole ship grey.

Write the Name on the Ship

1590202699093.JPEG

Write "USS Enterprise", then below it "NCC-1701".

Add Lights to the Ship

1590202699307.JPEG

Using acrylic paint, neatly mark lines of white on the top of the ship as shown in the picture.

Paint More Lights on the Ship

1590202698921.JPEG

Paint some more white lines on the lower section of the ship.

Paint the Warp Engines

1590202699025.JPEG

Paint a pinkish-red color on the tip of the warp engines.

Paint Design on the Warp Engines

1590202698887.JPEG

Paint the outside edges of the warp engines white. Then paint some white on the top of the warp engines as well. Make it so it looks like the picture above.

Paint the Impulse Engines

1590202699512.JPEG

Paint a streak of red in the following spots:

  1. The lower part of the visible large triangle attaching to the secondary hull section
  2. The lower left section above the left warp engine
  3. The lower right section above the right warp engine

Add Detail to the Warp Engines

1590202699378.JPEG

Paint two lines down both of the warp engines spaced a fair amount apart from each other. Then, paint an oval above those lines so that it looks like the picture above.

Add Design to the Red Designs on the Warp Engines

1590202699448.JPEG

Paint a white design, similar to the look of a lilly pad or a sheild, onto the oval part of the red design that you painted in the last step.
