Stained Glass Bottle Lamp
How to make a stained glass lamp out of any bottle.
Things You Will Need
1 Glass Bottle of you choice, Dremel tool with dimond ball bit and sanding bit, Transparent Glass Paint from craft store, pre-cut "lead" lines, liquid "lead" paint, a razor knife, a string of (50)christmas lights and electrical tape.
Drilling the Hole
Start by filling the bottle with water, I drilled the hole in the bottle while it was in the sink with the water running over the bottle to keep the bit cool and it cuts down on the glass dust too. ***CAUTION DONT GET WATER IN THE DREMEL, BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN, PLEASE BE CAREFUL***. Using the dremel and the dimond ball bit make the hole. After the hole is made use the sanding bit to widen the hole and smooth out the edges.
Lay Out Your Design
Using the pre-cut lead lines lay out your design as you like. Use a razor blade to cut, and the liquid lead to fill in any gaps and at the corners and intersections.
Time to Add Some Color
Using the glass paint let your imagination run wild, because no two come out the same there is no right or wrong way to do this part. Mix the colours right on the bottle for a cool crazy swirl design, you can also use the clear and frost to change things up a bit. Don't forget to plug the hole you made for the cord so you don't get any paint drips on the inside .
Let There Be Light
After everthing is dry and your happy with you bottle, its time to insert the lights. sorry I dont have any pics for this part but all you need to do is cut the cord about 4inches from the last light and feed the wires into the hole and out the neck of the bottle, connect the wires and cover with the electrical tape, it will be easier to connect the wires this way. Pull the wires and lights through the neck and tie a knot in the wire inside and outside the bottle so the cord doesn't slip in and out. Plug that baby in and you have the coolest lamp for you bar or bed room.
