Add baking soda, cornstarch and water to the pot.

Place on stove on medium heat.

Stir to combine.

Continue stirring until the mixture forms a dough. It might take a few minutes but don't get discouraged.

Let Dough Cool

Once the mixture has formed a dough, place it in a glass bowl to cool. Make sure you put a wet paper towel over your dough so it doesn't dry out.

While you wait for it to cool, break your jolly ranchers into small pieces using the rolling pin. Keeping the colors separate allows you to pick and choose which you want to use for your ornaments.

Roll Out Dough and Cut Out Desired Shapes

Dust your work surface liberally with cornstarch.

Use a rolling pin and roll out the dough about 1/2 inch thick. If the dough cracks and won't hold together, wet your hands under the facet.

Use your desired cookie cutters and cut out your ornaments. Place them on the parchment-lined baking sheet and cover with a moist paper towel while you are working to keep them from drying out.

Use a straw to put a hole through the top of each ornament before baking. This is where a ribbon will be hung after the ornaments are painted.

Cut Out Centers and Fill As Desired and Bake

Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.

Using a paring knife, cut out the insides of the ornaments. Leave a decently thick border otherwise, your ornaments will break.

Fill the inside with any color(s) of jolly ranchers that you want.

Bake for 1 hour. Allow ornaments to cool completely before attempting to move off the cookie sheet.

Note: Slight imperfections or bubbling on the stained glass portion can be removed with a paring knife immediately after ornaments are removed from the oven.

Paint Ornaments

Once ornaments have cooled they can be painted and a strung with ribbon.
