Squirrel Picnic Table
Here is how to make the easiest and cutest squirrel feeder ever! This will keep squirrels out of your garden and at their table!
Gather Your Materials
For this project, you will need:
- Drill (with a 1/16 drill bit and a 5/32 drill bit)
- Hammer
- Hanging nails (12)
- Screws (2)
- 5''x15''x1/2'' wood (I used old pallet wood)
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Jigsaw (a flathead to change the blade if necessary)
Mark-up Your Wood
Mark-up your wood as shown in the picture above. These will be your cutting lines so make them straight!
Table top- 6''x2.5''
Benches- 6''x1''
Legs- 1''x1''
Tree attachment- 5''x2.5''
Cut on Your Lines
Using the lines you just drew and your jigsaw, cut out each piece carefully! Don't forget any safety tools (eyewear and such) and mount your wood as I did if necessary.
Set It Up
Now that all of your pieces are cut out, you are going to want to line everything up to make sure you have cut everything right and have all of your pieces.
Attach the Legs
For this step, you will start by lining up the legs and setting the tabletop on top. To prevent the wood from splitting, pre-drill a hole through both pieces. Once you have drilled your hole you will hammer the nails in easily.
Attach the Benches
Repeat the same steps you did with the legs, but on the benches.
Attach the Tree Mount to the Table and Tree
Use the same method you used to attach the legs and benches. Once it is connected, using your 5/32 drill bit, drill two holes under the tabletop. Find the tree you want to mount your feeder to. Line up one screw at a time and drill it into the tree.
Gather Your Squirrel Food
For mine, I used a peanut butter and honey mixture to stick peanuts and crushed pecans to my table, but you can use whatever you want!
Spread the Sticky
Take your sticky substance and coat the tabletop in it, this is to make sure the actual food doesn't blow off.
Give Them Some Food!
Use whatever food you chose and put it all over your sticky stuff! You have completed your squirrel picnic table, Enjoy your squirrel free garden!
