Squid Game Dalgona Candy
In this Instructable, I will show you how to make Squid Game Cookies. This Squid Game Dalgona candy recipe or honeycomb candy was made popular in the Netflix series Squid Game. It is also known as Ppopgi.
Homemade Dalgona or homemade ppopgi is made with just two ingredients, baking soda, and sugar. The game the kids played was that you had to remove the middle shape without breaking it, the first to do it, would win a free Dalgona.
In the tv series, Squid Game, the stakes are much higher. These candies are fairly finicky to make but definitely doable, it will probably take a little practice. Start to finish you can make them in around 5 minutes or so. Making these sounds like an awesome idea for a Halloween party, right? If I can do it, you can do it. Let's get started!

Follow the steps below or watch the video tutorial or do both! In the video, I take the Squid Game Dalgona challenge. Do I succeed? You will have to watch to find out, haha.

Spray the Pan
I am using my non-stick cake pan to press down the Dalgona candy, but you can certainly use something else. Spray the bottom of whatever you are using with cooking spray, then wipe it down a bit with a paper towel. This will help keep it from sticking to the candy. Although that still may happen.
Melt the Sugar
Set the heat to medium-low to medium. On my oven the 3 or 4 setting is perfect. I usually let the pan heat up first before adding the sugar.
Add all the sugar at once, to the middle of the pan. Or you can use a metal ladle. Then start stirring the sugar, and try and keep it piled in the middle as best as you can.
Once it starts melting you will want to continuously stir, otherwise, the sugar will burn.
After it has completely melted it should have a nice amber color. Remove it from the heat.
Baking Soda Time
Now, add all the baking soda at once and stir, stir, stir. It will puff up on you and about double the volume of the mixture. Keep stirring for about 10 seconds.
Pour, Cool, Press
Now pour out the candy into a circle, onto a piece of parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. I prefer the silicone mat.
Then wait 10 to 12 seconds. If you try and press it too soon, it will just stick to the bottom of your press. Now press it down so it is about 1/8th or so of an inch thick.
Stamp and Cool
Remove the pan/press and then quickly take your cookie cutter and press it in the middle. Don't go all the way down.
And there you go! Just allow the Dalogona to cool completely, and then gently remove it.

Practice!
As you can see in the image, I made several, not all of them turned out exactly how I wanted them too and some even cracked on me after making them, haha.
So don't be alarmed if it takes you a few tries to get this process down.
The Challenge/Video Tutorial
Now the Squid Game challenge or Dalgona challenge is to remove the inner shape from the outer part without the inner shape cracking at all. In the Squid Game series, the participants are given a needle to do this. In the video, I attempt the challenge. Do I succeed?
