Bulk Making Sandwiches for Parties Made Quicker
This instructable is all about using a technique for making sandwiches a bit quicker. I wouldn't normally use this just to make one or two sandwiches but it is useful when making any more than that.
For my granddaughters third birthday party she had requested "Lots of sandwiches with Jam and peanut butter!" So her wish was our command.
So Mum, Nana, Auntie Jill and Auntie Hazel were set to task with 5 loaves of bread and fillings. For this instructable I will only be making one sandwich :)
Items Needed:
For this you will need
- Bread
- Spoon
- Butter or Margarine
- Sandwich Fillings
- Plates to display your sandwiches
Using a Knife As Usual:
Normally you would use a knife to make a sandwich. Nothing wrong with that, billions of people do this everyday, it works. But I was taught a tip by my sister that actually a spoon makes a much better spreader than a knife.
Here I use a knife to spread some butter so that I can make a comparison.

Using a Spoon:
Now I am going to try using the spoon. You scoop the butter out of the dish onto the back of the spoon. Then start to butter the bread. Rather than spreading you use a sort of pushing around motion. It really is much quicker and you get a much smoother spread and it is easier with the spoon to get right up to the edges.
Buttered Slices:
Here are the two finished slices. Both look finely buttered but the one with the spoon took much less time and I was able to spread it more thinly.
Toppings:
You can now add the sandwich filling of your choice, by spoon, today I chose Manuka Honey, very tasty :)
In summary, I would say that you can use a knife or a spoon to make a sandwich, both will be as tasty but the spoon technique will make it very much quicker especially when making large amounts of sandwiches.
