Spray Paint Dish Soap Rainbow Tumbler

I made this tumbler using spray paint and dish soap. It puts a fun twist on ordinary tumblers. I chose the colors of the rainbow and for added fun I used glitter to top it off. You can use whatever colors you want or have around the house. Have fun with it.

• TUMBLER (I got mine from a local grocery store. It is insulated with a handle
• SPRAY PAINT what ever colors you want to use ( you can use whatever brand you want. I used several different kinds. Some gloss some matte.)
• BLACK SPRAY PAINT
• WHITE SPRAY PAINT
• CLEAR COAT SPRAY PAINT
• FINGER NAIL POLISH REMOVER
• EXACTO OR RAZOR BLADE
• TAPE (masking or painters)
• DISH WASHING SOAP
• GLITTER SPRAY PAINT

Wash your tumbler. Use soap and water to clean your tumbler. Towel dry.

Use finger nail polish remover and wipe the surface of the tumbler. This will remove any oils left on it.

Tape the handle or any other parts you do not want to paint.

Use an exacto blade or razor blade to cut tape off around edges.

I flipped my tumbler over so I wouldn't get paint inside the tumbler and I could paint the bottom as well.

Use white spray paint to coat the outside of the tumbler. Let dry.

Choose your first color and spray paint a stripe down the tumbler. Let dry.

Choose your second color and spray paint another stripe down the tumbler. Let dry.

Continue spraying stripes of different colors till you have covered the tumbler. Remember to allow each to dry before applying another color. Once your done with the colors apply a clear coat and let dry.

Using dish soap make a pattern. I just used swiping motion across the painted area. What you cover with dish soap will remain seen and all other areas will be black.

Immediately cover the entire surface with black spray paint. Let sit for 1 minute. Take it to the sink or hose and rinse off the black paint. Don't rub it just allow the water to run over the tumbler and wash away the black paint where you drew your pattern with the dish soap. Let it air dry.

Once dry spray with clear coat. I did 2 coats. I then decided to add glitter. And once that dried I did another 2 coats of clear. remove tape and your done.
