Spooky Coffin

We were asked to make a spooky Halloween decoration that incorporated lights of any sort. We chose to make a coffin after brainstorming many spooky ideas. We chose to make a coffin because we wanted to challenge ourselves to make a uniquely shaped box.

Supplies

Wood, Cotton, LED Light Strips, Laser Cutter, Nail Gun, paint, Hinge, and Super Glue.

Make a prototype with cardboard and tape. The measurements for the box are in the photo above. We used an Exacto knife to cut out each face of the box. Then we taped it together.

Use a table saw to cut out all of the faces that you need, other than the top. Laser cut the top with the file attached.

Nail gun and screw all the faces together to assemble the box. Add a hinge to make the box open and close. Paint the color of your choice and add a light strip.

Decorate

Add cotton to the inside over the light strip. Splatter red paint on cotton to look like blood. We also chose to add zombie hands that look like they are trying to escape from the coffin. We also splattered red paint on the hands.
