Spicy Roller - Meal Desicion Machine
I always spend a lot of time to decide what to eat since I have so many options and it's hard to choose one from them. Because of this, I want to design a product to decide it for me. Speaking of randomness, the slot machine is the first thing that comes to my mind. Therefore, I designed Spicy Roller, a cardboard slot machine with light and sound to help you choose your meals.
Supplies
- Cardboard from package box
- 3 wooden sticks
- 6 Bearings
- Utility knife
- 4 Pingpong balls
- LED beads
- Arduino Uno
- wires
- Adafruit Audio FX Sound Board + 2x2W Amp – WAV/OGG Trigger -16MB
- Glue gun
- Wire cutter
- Scissor
- Drill
- Soldering kit
- Printer
- Sharpie marker
- Scotch tape
- Sharpie
Make the Roller
Use a utility knife or scissors to cut out 6 circles of the same size, their size depends on how big the model you want to make. Run the circle around the cardboard to determine the circumference (you can also calculate it).
The diameter of the wooden rod in the middle needs to be similar to the inner diameter of the bearing for easy fixation.
Cut a circle slightly smaller than the size of the bearing in the middle of the disc for easy fixing.
Put them together with a glue gun.
Manu Stickers
Use adobe illustrator to make or draw your favorite food to make your menu, not limited to what to eat, you can add more interesting activities such as who to eat and how to eat.

Rotating Structure
Insert and glue gun cardboard picks on sticks to push the wheels and connect it to the outside stick that acts as a lever, now you can push down the lever to rotate the wheels
Arduino and Code
Pin 10, 11, 12, 13 are connected to led beeds for light; Pin 7 is connected to Adafruit Audio FX Sound Board + 2x2W Amp – WAV/OGG Trigger -16MB for sound; Pin 2 is connected to a push button to achieve the function that the lights blink and sound appears once push the button to amplify the suspence.

Set the Light and Sound
Solder the circuit, drill a small hole in the ping pong ball, and insert the small light bulb into it
Position the light bulb in the top of the box and drill small holes to feed the wires into the compartment below
Secure Ping-Pong Balls with Scotch Tape
Decorate It
The last step is to decorate your machine. Use sharpie or marker to draw everything relate to food and eat!
Now, it's time to enjoy your outcome and treat yourself a big meal of the result!
