Supplies
Ingredients:
6 cups Special K Cereal
1 16oz. Skippy Peanut Butter
1 ½ cups Sugar
1 ½ cups Karo Syrup
1 bag Milk Chocolate Chips and Glass Bowl
Large Bowl
Large Spoon
Sauce Pan
9x13 Bar Pan
Microwave
Stove
Measure Cereal Out
Start by pouring 6 cups of Special K into large mixing bowl. Too much cereal may result in dry bars. Once 6 cups is in the bowl, set bowl off to the side for now.
Sugar and Karo Syrup
Measure out 1 1/2 cups of sugar and dump it in the sauce pan. Then, using the same measuring cups, pour 1 1/2 cups of Caro syrup. I like to start with the sugar first so I only have to use one set of cups. Before pouring the syrup in the sauce pan, turn the stove on high. Pour the syrup in the pan and begin stirring until sugar is dissolved as seen in my video. DO NOT let the syrup boil. This process is rather fast.
Add Peanut Butter and Mix Cereal
After the sugar is dissolved, add the peanut butter to the syrup and stir until it all is mixed together and it should look like a thick peanut butter sauce. After it is all mixed together, pour the mixture over the cereal in the large mixing bowl and begin folding the mixture into the cereal until all the cereal is covered as seen in the video. Be careful not to crush the cereal. Once all the cereal is covered, put the Special K mixture in the bar pan and begin working it back and forth with your large spoon. Again, be careful not to crush the cereal. Level the mixture on the bottom of the pan.
Cholate Chips
Pour the bag of milk chocolate chips into the bowl and put it in the microwave for 2 minutes, or until chips are soft. begin stirring the chips until they are all mixed together. Then, pour the chocolate over the Special K cereal in the pan. Start at in end of the pan and pour down the middle as seen in the video. After you clean the bowl out, use your spoon and spread the chocolate over the cereal evenly from edge to edge. View the video for better details!
Cutting and Serving Bars
After the chocolate is spread on, the bars are done! Let them sit until chocolate has cooled before cutting. If they need to be cooled fast, don't be afraid to throw them in the fridge for a bit. Enjoy!
