Speaker Switch
Having a good setup to see movies at home it's a must have of every movie junkie and a home theater it's one of this pieces to have.
The most common of the home theater is a 5.1 surround sound that dont allowed pluging two more speakers, this type of receivers does a perfect job of giving the user a immersive sound on movies but fails on doing the same job on music.
Of course you can configure the speaker to deliver 2.1 sound but the small speaker can't give the deep sound that music requires, the other solution would be disconnected the two small front speakers and connect two large ones design to ear music, but having the work it's not practical.
The ideal solution would be to have a speaker switch that swaps in between the two types of front speakers transforming the 5.1 receiver into a 5.1 plus 2.
In this instructabel i show you how to make one.

Gather the Material
You will need for this project:
- Enclosures Box
- Circuit Board Perforated
- ThreePosition Switch
- 12v Power Supply
- Two Double Throw 12V Relay
- 5mm Red LED
- 5mm Green LED
- 1K Ohm Resistor
Get Started
Follow the circuit diagram and make the circuit on a perforated board.
The idea is to connect the right and left signal from the receiver and be command by the relays,( one relay to the right signal and the other for the left signal), which relay will have connect the positive and negative signal from the receiver and it will switch between front small speakers and front large speakers.
How It Works
The three position switch will give 12v positive to the relays that are ground to the negative, the LED's will give the info of what speakers are currently connected to the receiver.
Now you can easely switch the speakers for any situation, when seeing movies wo will have the switch on position 1 to have 5.1 surround sound with the small speakers, when listening to music you will have the switch on position 2 to have the large speakers, if you want you can turn off the subwoofer and config to two speakers only on the receiver setup options.
Final Thoughts
This is a nice gadget to have and it's very easy to make.
