Inspired by Space Suits and the Morgan Smoke Hood* -- This is an iteration on a Droplet Hood, that should pose some barrier against droplets inhaled, or expelled by breathing. It keeps the face visible and largely prevents air flow around the hood, adressing two points of criticism against face masks. It is comfortable to wear and extremly easy to build (even I can do it, have you seen my other projects? ;)

I want the look to remind of a space helmet, because I have optimistic associations with space exploration. In all the doom and gloom of today, we should not forget to dream of a better tomorrow. Because to get there, we have to set out today.

Cut the Transparren Sheet

Make two cuts at around 1/3 of the width of the sheet. Keep a little more than your head width between the cuts.

Bending the Sheet

Warm the sheet wheer you wandt to bend it, and protect the serounding area, so that you get a clean edge. Bend the sheet around the cuts, almost as if you made a box, but the angle of the upper and lower middle part should be about 45° and the others a little less, than 90°.

Place Snap Fasteners

Press snap fasteners into the folded sheet, with a hand tool. Place the snap fasteners around the edges of the sheet, as far away from the edges as possible. If you later notice some to be missing, just add them.

Add the Fabric

Cut the fabric in Stripes about twice as broad as the face shield. I made it a little small.

Place the fabric on the face shield and mark the positions of the snap fasteners. Place nap fasteners about on the marked positions. Try to have a little bit of distance to the edge.

Orient the fabric so, that the snap fasteners point away from the face shield and fold the fabric in, so that you can press the coresponding snap fasteners together. One Stripe of fabrsic goes in the front and one in the back, overlapping the one in the front. Connect the two pices of frablic wit snap fasteners.

Bend the Face Shield in Shape

Hold the face shield like in the picture and carefulle warm it with the hairdryer. Try it on and fiddle with the shape, until it fits.

And tape up the sides, where the parts of the face shield overlap
