Soyuz : Printing and Assembly Guide

Soyuz Printables.png

Here's a guide to printing my model of the Soyuz.

In this guide you will be guided through the correct positioning of the parts on the board, the settings in the Slicer and the assembly of the model.

Supplies

Filaments.png
  • 3D Printer
  • 3D Slicer
  • 3D files of my Soyuz model available on Printables.
  • Grey Filament
  • White Filament
  • Orange Filament
  • Métal Filament
  • Glue

The Slice

PRINCIPLE OF THE TABLE

I've divided the slice steps into 'blocks' corresponding to the stages of the rocket, but you can do the slice in any order you like.

In each slice step you'll find a table with my advice on a number of parameters.

  • The Supports will be in green in the slicer images, and I'll also put a note in the image.
  • The Rafts, Brim and HelpDisk will be selected according to your usual settings in case your parts come unstuck.
  • The Top Fill pattern is for a prettier result, but you can choose whatever you like.
  • Temperature and Speed can be modified for certain parts, but your usual settings may also be valid.
  • Thin walls can be activated on certain parts, but as with temperature and speed, your usual settings may also be valid.
  • Wall Generator can use classic or Arachne mode for certain parts.

There's also a picture for the ideal placement of each piece. I only placed one piece of each, but it can be repeated for the quantity requested.

I also added annotations to some of the images.

IMPORTANT

For "Jonction" parts, I advise you to print as tightly as possible, adding 1% by 1% to the scale to ensure perfect assembly.

Slice Block A

Block A Paramétre.png

Truss.png

Choose between "A_Full_Truss_Grey_x1" or "A_Truss_Grey_x1".

There are no specific settings for all the parts.

The supports are not required for all the parts.

Raft and Brim can help in case of poor grip on small parts like the "Jonction" parts.

Slice Block I

Assembly

Soyuz.png

Once the supports have been removed, you can begin assembly.

The assembly steps will also be divided by 'blocks', this time I advise you to follow the direction of the guide.

At the bottom right of each image there will be a step code, the letter for the Block and the number for the step, for example A1 for step 1 of Block A.

Assembly Block A

A4.png

A1

  • Glue the junction block "A_Jonction_1" into the engine parts "A_RD-108_Metal"
  • Add the second part of the engine "A_RD-108_Orange", then glue the second junction block "A_Jonction_1".

A2

  • Glue the LOX Tank "A_LOX_Tank_Grey" on the engine parts.
  • Add the junction block "A_Jonction_2" inside the LOX Tank and add the interstage block "A_Interstage_White"

A3

  • Glue the RP-1 Tank "A_RP-1_Tank_Grey" on the jonction block.

O4

  • Glue the junction block "Jonction_A-I_Grey" into the RP-1 Tank.
  • Then glue the Bay system "A_System_Bay_White" and the Truss "A_Truss_Grey" or "A_Full_Truss_Grey"  according to your choice.

Assembly Block I

I1.png

I1

  • Glue the junction block "I_Jonction_1" into the engine parts "I_RD-110_Orange".
  • Add the second part of the engine "I_RD-110_Grey", then glue the junction block "I_Jonction_1"
  • Add the LOX Tank "I_LOX_Tank_White", then glue the junction block "I_Jonction_1"
  • Add the RP-1 Tank "I_RP-1_Tank_Grey", then glue the junction block "I_Jonction_1"
  • Then add the soyuz "I_Soyuz_White"

Cette étape sera a réaliser 4 fois, une fois pour chaque booster BVGD.

BVGD1

  • Glue the engine parts "BVGD_RD-107A_Orange" into the engine parts "BVGD_RD-107A_Metal"

BVGD2

  • Glue the junction block "BVGD_Jonction_1" into the engine block.
  • Add the RP-1 Tank "I_RP-1_Tank_grey".

BVGD3

  • Glue the junction block "BVGD_Jonction_2" into the RP-1 Tank.
  • Add the Interstage "BVDG_Interstage_White".

BVGD4

  • Glue the LOX Tank "I_LOX_Tank_grey".

BVGD5

  • Glue the junction block "Jonction_A-BVGD_Grey".

Assembly Stand

S1

  • Glue the letters "Letters_White" in the "Stand_Name" then glue the plate on the "Stand".

Now that all the blocks are assembled, you can do the final assembly.

F1

  • Add the block I on the Block A.

F2

  • Add the four booster BVGD in the Block A.

F3

  • Add the block on the stand.
