Soy Wax Egg Candles
my family likes to eat eggs, and we always discard the eggshell every day. Therefore, I decided to reuse it as a container of my handmade candle.
Supplies
- Soy wax 1 (125 g.)
- soy wax 2 (125g.)
- eggshell (around 9 pieces)
- Candlewick
- 2 Pot
- Any fragrance for candles
- unused yellow or any color candle
- thermometer
- acrylic color
- balance
*both soy waxes are the same type but we need to divide them into two parts for making a 2 layer candle.
Melt a Soy Wax 1
Heat up the water until it boiling, then put a soy wax 1 pot on top of the boiling water. gradually stir until sot wax will completely turn to liquid and always measure the temperature. when the temperature reaches 80 degrees Celcius or 176 Fahrenheit, move a soy wax out.
Set Up a Egg Yolk.
After moving a soy wax out, rest it at room temperature until its temperature goes down to 50 degrees Celcius or 122 Fahrenheit. During this, we going to set up egg yolk. Drill a hole in an unused yellow candle and insert a candlewick in size hold, then put in inside an eggshell.
Create Smell & Por It in to Eggshell
following the 2 nd step, we going to add a fragrant into a candle. The weight of the fragrant is 8% of the soy wax weight, so in this case, the weight of the fragrant is 10 grams. when the candle's temperature reaches 50 degrees Celcius, we gradually pour the fragrant into a candle and stir it for 1 minute. After that pour it in to a eggshell.
Second Layer
repeat steps 1 and 3.
Rest It & Paint It
although the candle is already dry, you need to rest it for one day to increase the candle's efficiency. while wanting, we going t paint by using acrylic color and cut a wick into appropriate size.
