Soldering Iron Stand Holder

Making a simple and cheap soldering iron holder. Details in the photos. I will be making a video how to make one or two.

The soldering iron stand is made from a 10mm pipe bender. Cut the pipe bender to length and knock out the bottom ring on a metal edge, like a vice jaw. Choose a desired angle to stop at, roughly 45 degrees. Then use a screw and a washer, fix it to a base. I chose a wooden base I fitted a tip cleaner to.

For this holder / storage, I bought a Razor tin off ebay for £3. These vintage Valet Auto Strop tins can be found quite cheap. Remove the bottom 'felt' like material. It is glued down. Cut a piece of plywood to fit the bottom and use the base material to cover the plywood. Dril la hole to fit a small nut and bolt. Use a spring door stop. Unscrew the wide top part, very easy to come off. Then remove the plastic off the small end. Turn out one of the small rings on the bottom and fit to the board with the nut and bolt. Hot glue the base in the tin. A TS100 soldering iron fits perfectly in the tin with room for tips, solder wire and a small tub of flux. Pocket size soldering iron kit.
