Solar Mini-thermal Power Plant With Water Cooling

солнечная тепловая электростанция в миниатюре

Only lazy did not consider the topic of the Peltier element. YouTube is saturated with videos about how with the help of the element you can heat or cool something, and how you can charge the phone, or even make a miniature TPP.
I decided to try to assemble a fishing charger to charge the phone, etc., using solar, thermal energy. A module installed on a radiator submerged in water, especially if it is a stream, or shallow water at the shore, will have stable cooling. sides. It remains how to warm up the opposite side.

Supplies

For the project, I needed:

two Peltier elements, two wooden boxes, two windows, sealant, electro lobby, drill.

I remembered my golden childhood when, on vacation, I came to my grandfather's apiary and there, there was a solar wax, which, under sunlight, heated and melted wax raw materials. Under two glasses, the temperature rose, somewhere to 90-100 ° C. I remember raising the glass and putting my finger in the molten wax in the tray, burning, was before blistering.

So the idea came, to repeat the wax but in miniature. A strong plywood box with a relatively thin bottom was not needed for a long time. Wood is a great heat insulator. After removing the internal jumpers, the adhesive layer was cleaned with a stamen. Also, with the help of grinding, he removed the old, swollen varnish.

The metal for the bottom of the box was taken from the Soviet Iron Bookshelf. It has a dark color that will attract heat well. Drew on the metal the internal size of the box, took the UShM and trimmed everything superfluous

To the outside of the bottom of the box, I applied an element, penciled the modules and made holes.

Radiator, common to two modules, aluminum. Since the bottom of the box is thinner than the elements, the radiator screwed to it tightly presses the elements to the metal plate that is inside.

Assembly

Having finished with the heat exchanger, I begin glazing. First glass, inner glass. It is inserted into the slot in the drawer. The glass went tight, after pressing in the excess glass, it was cut off with a glass cut.

The second glass was cut to the outer size of the box. Between the glasses there was an air layer 6 mm thick.

The assembly began with the application of thermoplastic not a metal plate. The main thing is without fanaticism. After the modules were installed in the holes, the paste was applied again. He brought the wires through holes drilled in the radiator and pulled the radiator to the bottom with screws.

To install the glass used a neutral sealant, from itself, without advertising, a very good sealant, tested for years, does not have an acid smell. First passed, all the joints of the inner glass. The applied sealant is pressed after laying, the excess is removed with a spatula. The second glass was installed with an overlapping handle after the applied sealant. He also removed the surplus with a spatula. The glued product was carefully placed for a day.

The project is completed, the compact size pleased. It's time for a trial. When fixing, I decided to bring the object closer so that everything can be clearly seen how voltages increase depending on the increase in temperature inside the box. To cool the radiator, I took a sealed wooden box, into which I poured cold water from the well.

Then, carefully, so as not to spread, he loaded the radiator of the assembled structure.

Within five minutes, the tension rose to 5,5V, and stopped. This is enough to charge the phone and the others. Moreover, an increasing module is not needed.

Three minutes later, the voltage began to fall. To understand why this happened, I begin to analyze everything. It turned out that the modules through the radiator heated the water and this served to reduce voltage.

I picked up water from the well, in it about 10 ° C. The tank under two glasses was heated even to 80 (again approximately). The temperature difference, on the sides of the elements, is about 70 ° C. When the elements are connected in series, it turned out to be 5V. Of course, the solar folding panel is better for hiking and more powerful than this homework, the module has a small advantage, Heat can be created in the dark. the time of day, which will also generate electricity in the next project over this will be possible to break the head.
