Solar Electric Bike Charger
I found these solar panels a few years back, but I was too excited to set them in motion to document all of the steps involved. They were most likey from a higher quality landscape lighting set, and when I find stuff like this at a yard sale it really makes my tail wag!
The basic idea is relatively simple. I used stainless steel screws with locking nuts (the kind with the nylon inserts) and mounted the panels to a metal shelving rail. I then wired them in series, with a nice sized diode between each one. These insure that the current flows in only one direction. My bike uses a PRODECO 38.4V 9Ah battery, total charger output in full sunlight is 38 volts. PERFECT!
