resently on science class, i lerned about how to measure the "solar zenith angle". basically it uses a shadow of a stick and measure the angle of the sun with a string. as an example, a solar zenith angle at noon is about 90 degrees. after learning that, we had our time to build a solar measuring gadget of our own with paper. this project is basically a modifed version of it. anyway, let's start the build!

Supplies

you will need:

A4 paper sheet

scissors

tape

a long ruler

pen

a sunny day

Draw Out the Parts

get out some pens, papers, rulers and protractors and draw out like this on a A4 sheet. drawing on the measurement parts, use the measuring tools to calculate the distant and angles.

Scissoring and Folding

now for some real settings get a scissor and cut out like the picture shown above. after that, fold the measuringt triangle part so it faces up.

Math Time!

now for the calculating. get this thing outside and lie it down with the triangle lining up the ruler. when it's all lined up. see how much the angle of the shadow is. that is the suns angle at the time being. so there you have it. a paper-crafted solar angle calculator! be sure to check out my other projects as well, so i'll see you guys next time.
