Soft & Warm Travel Pillowcase
This comfy travel-size pillowcase only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. Once the pillow is inside, the flannel fabric adds warmth for anyone using it for resting or napping, especially during travel. It is also perfect for a small child’s bed.
Supplies
Supplies and tools:
¾ yard of flannel fabric (45” wide)
Spool of thread
Scissors
Straight pins
Measuring tape
Sewing machine
Iron
1 16x20-inch travel size pillow
Cutting and Stitching Fabric
Cut two thicknesses of fabric into an 18x28-inch rectangle. Place wrong side of fabric pieces face to face. Stitch a ¾-inch seam around two long sides and one short side.
Snipping and Pressing Seams
On remaining short side, fold 1-inch width upward, pinning to hold. Press flat. Snip sewn corners at a 45-degree angle to about ¼-inch of point of seams. Press open all seams.
Finishing Pillowcase Opening
Fold fabric up 2 1/2 inches so that insides of fabric pieces are together and the raw side of the 1-inch fold is underneath, pinning every 4-5 inches to hold. Press flat. Stitch ¼-inch from top crease. Remove pins. Trim thread as needed.
Stitching Pillowcase Opening Again
Turn pillowcase right side out and stitch again 1/4-inch from seam so that there two stitch lines ¼-inch apart. Press pillowcase flat.
Finished Pillowcase
Insert 16x20-inch travel size pillow into pillowcase. Enjoy!
