Soda Sprayer
Have you ever been in this situation where you just want to drink a soda but you do not want to drink from the bottle nor from a glass ? I you have, then this Instructable is the answer ! The contraption described here adapts onto standard soda bottle to make the next sip just one spray away
In all seriousness however, this insctructables describes how to adapt a simple sprayer onto a soda bottle making it look suspiciously like some house cleaning product bottle, you should not make this instructable at home if you have children for whom this instructable might blur the line of what is a safe and not safe to drink. ;)
Supplies
- Small squirt gun
- 6mm tubing
- 3D printer
- superglue
- Crimp connectors (3mm)
- Soda bottle Cap
- Drill and 10mm drill bit
Soda Bottle Cap
Drill a hole in the soda bottle cap. I have found it easier to start with a small drill and then move on to a bigger dril bit
Usually, cheap squirt guns cannot be disassembled easily, you have to break them appart, use care to remove the piston mechanism that moves the liquid in the squirt gun
3D Print the Models
Print all the stls files found here except for “head_blank.stl” if you have the exact same squirt gun mechanism (a lot of cheap squirt mechanism are identical), otherwise, you can modify the “head_blank.stl” to fit the mecanism you are using. There is only one “half_head.stl” and one "half_lever.stl" file as you can simply mirror these files to get the complete head and the complete lever.
Tubings
You will need 2 pieces of tubing
The first one goes from near the bottom of the bottle to the piston mechanism and measures ~23cm for a standard 500ml coca cola bottle
The second one goes from the outside of the piston mechanism to the end of the sprayer head. The end of the tubing is plugged by a crimp connector allowing the piston mechanism to build more pressure at the output improving the range of the sprayer
Final Assembly
Take one half of the head and place everything in it: the piston mechanism with its 2 pieces of tubing and the slip ring
First do a “dry run” before laying down the glue, making sure the head closes easily. Then apply some glue (without any going on the slip ring) close back the head and apply pressure for a few seconds making sure the slip ring still rotates. Cut the excess tubing at the end of the sprayer head and plug this tubing with a crimp connector. Glue to bottom of the slip ring to a coca cola bottle lid.
Glue the the 2 halfs of the lever together and attach the full lever to the rest of the sprayer head using a crimp connector as the axis of rotation. Secure with glue the crimp connector ONLY to the lever making sure while the glue dries that the lever can freely rotate
And with that you are done ! Happy (soda) drinking !
