We are going to create a Wind Chime made out of recycled material you might find at home! During these times, most of the people are stuck at home with nothing to do, this is a great way to get your mind out of the unknown and get creative juices flowing!

Supplies

  • 8-10 Aluminum Cans
  • 1 Ball of Yarn
  • 1 Plastic Lid
  • 1 Pair of Scissors
  • 1 Roll of Masking Tape
  • 1 Drill

Find Aluminum Cans

Gather aluminum cans that you have nearby. They can be any size and any color! Make sure they are rinsed out and there is no liquid inside of them. I would recumbent having 8-10 cans.

Find a Plastic Lid

Look around your house and find a plastic lid from any container. It can be any size and any color.

Crush the Aluminum Cans

Gather your 8-10 cans and step on them with force to make them completely flat.

Loop Yarn Through Can Opener

After the cans are flat, cut a piece of yarn; it can be as long or as short as you want and loop it through the hole. Make sure to double knot it so that it does not fall.

Hang It From the Plastic Lid

Cut a piece of tape, have someone hold the plastic lid and tape the top of the yarn with the can on it to the inside of the lid. Drop it and make sure it does not fall and is secure.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5

This is your time to be creative! Hang the yarn in whatever design you want. In the example above I just made each yarn longer to create a falling illusion. I used 8 cans for the design.

Drill Hole in Plastic Lid

With the help of an adult, drill a hole through the top of the lid in order for you to be able to hang it with a piece of yarn!

Hang It!

Have fun with your new creation and hang it wherever you want!
