Snowflakes Embroidery on Sweater

Cold! Cold!! Cold!! Doesn't the cold season remind you of sweaters? Well, I bought this lovely deep red color sweater in Nov last year. I chose the plain one. My motivation was to hand embroider it and was looking for some cool ideas. Even though it was cold, I decided not to wear this sweater since I had not yet accomplished my dream of my hand embroidery. This 'Cold Challenge' really helped me bring my sweater sitting there in the cold in my closet out for this work. I wasn't very sure if I should choose thread vs yarn for the sweater. But, the white yarn on the red sweater looks exactly like the lovely snowflakes in the winter!

Come along with me in my journey from making my simple sweater into a cozy and classic designer work!

Supplies

Red Sweater

White yarn

Yarn needle

A pair of scissors

Pen

Iron the Sweater

As my sweater was lying in the closet for the past few weeks, I decided to run warm iron just very lightly to iron out any kinks and folds.

Marking the Snowflakes

I have tried to make a simple and common design for the snowflakes. Started with 1 line and the second vertical at 90 degrees. Then, two diagonal lines as shown in the image 2. Then, I continued to draw lines just as arrows on Y on these lines. Check our the step-by-step lines drawn in the images. I made 3 flowers on the left side and the right side each.

'Y' Stitich

Here I will clearly explain how to work on this 'Y' stitch. I started with point 1 and then holding the thread I inserted the needle at point 2 and then removed the yarn at point 3 and inserted back at point 4. Then, continued on these steps as I moved along.

Using the same steps as shown in the previous step, I continued to stitch one snowflake at a time. Then, one by one I completed the 3 snowflakes on the left and then on the right side.

Adding the Tiny Snowflakes

In this step, I tried to add the tiny snowflakes just showing as its showering down below falling on the grass. This is a simple stitch along the eight lines are inserted in the center.

I folder the sweater and it was all ready to flaunt :-)

Surprisingly, it was cold the very next day and I enjoyed sporting this cool sweater!!!
