Hello! I’m a student currently attending UCI. If you want to excite your next game night, this tutorial will teach you how to use Fusion 360 to model a thrilling 3D Snakes & Ladders board!
Supplies
To make this, you'll need to download Fusion 360 which is a CAD and 3D modeling software. Here's the link to download the software:
- For students and educators: https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview?sorting=featured&filters=individual
- For other users: https://www.autodesk.in/products/fusion-360/free-trial
Stack the Rows

![SnLcoloredrows.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FLQ/FCB3/LFXZIAGO/FLQFCB3LFXZIAGO.jpg&filename=SnLcoloredrows.jpg)
Let's start with the base rows of the 3D board. Create a new sketch on your desired plane, then Make and Extrude a rectangular base of 10 rows that are equal in height, length, and width.
Makes the Spaces
![SnLspaces.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F25/NPFM/LFXZIAKP/F25NPFMLFXZIAKP.jpg&filename=SnLspaces.jpg)
Now for the spaces of the board game, create a sketch for each row. Then make and extrude 10 square tiles on each row sketch that are evenly spread along the row.
Number the Spaces
![SnLnums.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F2E/Y9SL/LFXZIAM1/F2EY9SLLFXZIAM1.jpg&filename=SnLnums.jpg)
![SnLnumtext.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FEE/K3CT/LFXZIAM2/FEEK3CTLFXZIAM2.jpg&filename=SnLnumtext.jpg)
![SnLnumorder.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FHJ/N76P/LFXZIAM0/FHJN76PLFXZIAM0.jpg&filename=SnLnumorder.jpg)
Next up is the path for the game pieces. Number the spaces in ascending from 1 to 100 starting at the bottom left corner and ending on the top left (Like a snake!). Add the text by going per row and creating a new sketch on the leftmost space, making a textbox that covers all 10 spaces, using the space bar to position the numbers, and extruding the numbers by a very small amount.
Create a New Plane
![SnLplaneflat.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FED/6P8G/LFXZIAOU/FED6P8GLFXZIAOU.jpg&filename=SnLplaneflat.jpg)
![SnLplaneiso.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FYS/PX48/LFXZIAOV/FYSPX48LFXZIAOV.jpg&filename=SnLplaneiso.jpg)
Time to build the pop-up ladders and snakes. To get the best angle for them, create a new plane that is parallel to the incline of the rows and is decently raised from the spaces.
Make the Snakes and Ladders
![SnLtop.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F1X/X4D4/LFXZIAQK/F1XX4D4LFXZIAQK.jpg&filename=SnLtop.jpg)
Here's the fun part! Create a new sketch on your new plane, go to the top view, then make and extrude as many snakes and ladders as you want by using curves and lines that connect to the spaces that you want. Don't forget to give your snakes googly eyes (I recommend having them look at the space the snake head is on)!
Label Your Board
![SnLtitle.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F0M/5RDZ/LFXZIARD/F0M5RDZLFXZIARD.jpg&filename=SnLtitle.jpg)
We can't forget the label! Pick any place you want and type and extrude your title for the board.
Color and Done!

![SnLspacesflat.jpg](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FF5/8ZTM/LFXZIAS9/FF58ZTMLFXZIAS9.jpg&filename=SnLspacesflat.jpg)
Last but not least we need to color everything. Choose any colors that you want for the snakes, ladders, and board. For the spaces, you should come up with a repeating color pattern for your spaces. After all that is done, congratulations! Enjoy showing off your new 3D Snakes & Ladders board to anyone you wish!
