Snake Ring

A cute and easy snake wire ring!

-Florists wire (There is some at Micheals)

-Beads, sea glass, any tiny object that you want in the snake's head

-Wire cutters, needle-nose pliers, and round pliers

-Any smaller wire that you can easily wrap around the ring (CANNOT be wire string)

-A round object to shape your ring with.

Cut a 14-19 inch piece of the florists wire. I cut 14 inches, but the ring was only big enough to fit my ring finger (I suggest going bigger). Fold the wire in half.

Once you have the base, shape the head. You can have some fun here but I decided to go with a traditional snake head. Use the pliers to shape. Once you are done with that, pick your object to go inside the head. I used some sea-glass but again, you can use anything.

Take your smaller wire and start wrapping around the head. Make a cradle for the object (sea glass in this case) to sit in before wrapping any more. Once the cradle is done, start wrapping around the empty areas until the object inside is secure.

If you are using a bead or an object with a hole, before making the cradle feed the object through the wire.

Once the head is done, wrap down onto the "neck". Bend the thicker wire at a 90 degree angle. Now, start going crazy! Wrap the smaller wire in cool shapes and patterns down the body.

Stop 2 inches before the end! DON'T CUT!!!

To make the tail, cut one of the thicker wires 1 inch off the end. Then, take the smaller wire and bend it onto itself (like a swirl). Take the longer wire and bend it around the smaller circle. Wrap the end of the longer wire in the opposite direction than the previous two wraps (check image).

After you have made the tail motions, take the smaller wire (un-cut) and continue wrapping around the tail until secure.

Now you should have the head, body, and tail all finished. The last step is to bend the ring! Take any round object (I used a marker) and wrap the ring around it. Fit it onto one of your fingers and shape it until if feels right.

Now you have a wonderful snake ring! You can bend it whenever, so you don't have to worry about discomfort!
