Smartphone Paper Stand

Imagine you are watching a movie in bed on your phone. Now, I want to place the phone on the bed, but the phone stand is in the other room. Here is a solution, flip your phone, open the stand and enjoy!

1. A4 - size paper.
2. Black marker.
3. Glue
4. Hard metal sheet. (without any corners, it should have a soft corner, if it does not, then make it so) 1 inch x 5 inch

1. Measure the dimensions of your phone on the paper.
2. Mark dimensions which are smaller than the phone and as per requirement of the stand. I have used 3 inch x 2inch rectangle for my smartphone which should work for almost all phones generally. Keep a margin of 1 inch as free space. Let's say the length of the mark is l (small L, (3 inches)) and the breadth of the mark is b (2 inches).
3. Now, the length of the cutout from the paper required = L' = 2* (l + b) = 10 inches and the width should be 4 inches (this is fixed).
4. This is because the stand is a 3d box-shape. For making the 3x2, we require a rectangle of 3x2 dimensions multiplied by the height of the stand.

1. Fold 4 mountains across the 4 inch width as shown in the figure.
2. Now, fold across the length (10 inch ) as shown in the figure with length 3 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch and 2 inch respectively.
3. Fold the corners as shown in the video.
4. Check the shape should look like as shown in the given figure.

1. Cut out two rectangles of size l x b (3 x 2) and paste them to the constricted shape on the bottom and the top respectively.
2. Attach the metal piece of 1 inch by 5 inch at the bottom of the base.
3. Now, attach the base with the metal on the phone with glue. (Note, any glue may be used keep in mind if removal is required)
4. Draw a design on the front.
5. Fold the extra piece of metal onto the front to prevent it from opening.

1. Unlock the metal pieces.
2. Spread the paper stand.
3. Enjoy your movie!
