SMART Transfer

We are Team from ITE College Central. Currently in Singapore, there are about 100,000 wheelchair users in Singapore, comprising of the elderly and those with disabilities. With an aging population, this figures are seen to increase. These patients frequently needs to be transferred in and out of vehicles to the various rehabilitation centers and hospitals.

This create a need for a device to bridge the transfer from the car to the wheel chair efficiently, with good ergonomic & ease of use.

Using the design thinking methodology taught in the School, we embark on a study on the existing wheel chair type and also interviewed and took the dimensions of the various wheel chairs used in the hospitals in Singapore.

These can late be converted into CAD design. With the CAD models, it enable the design to be tested and checked for errors before we fabricate the equipment.

Once all the relevant dimensions and date were collected, we embark on using 3D Cad software, in this project Autodesk Fusion 360 was chosen as it offers a simple and it is easy to use. The various add on like animation also allows us to easily prepare better presentations. Attached are some snapshots of out design process in Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD.
