Small Rechargeable Mini Micro Torch

I wanted to make a tiny torch that was light(no pun intended), strong, and useful when exploring in tight spaces. it uses some electronics from an old rechargeable torch.

Supplies

I will be using

  1. PVC (from pipes)
  2. LED from a torch (usually stronger and brighter than other normal LEDs)
  3. Battery from a small rechargeable torch
  4. A small on/off switch
  5. superglue

Tools:

  1. Soldering Iron
  2. 3rd hand tool for soldering

OLD TORCH

Separate all the parts of the old torch.

Put aside the

  1. Switch
  2. Battery
  3. LED
  4. And the cone that goes around the LED (if any)

FIRST CONNECTION

Solder the positive lead from the battery to one prong of the switch, then the positive lead from the LED to the other.

SECOND CONNECTION

Solder the two negative leads (from battery and from LED) together.

Charger

Add the connector so that you can charge the battery by soldering on the positive lead of the connector to the positive terminal of the battery.

Negative to the negative terminal.

Your setup should be complete. Try turning the switch on and off and make sure everything works.

In the image, the charger is connected.

MAKE a 'BODY BOX'

Before making a PVC case, i first taped the mini torch up well with some tape. Take a piece of PVC pipe and cut lengthwise along the pipe. Heat over a fire or flame until supple. Place on a flat surface, and flatten out. You can use a good blade to cut the PVC or use a hacksaw, depends on the thickness. Make it how you want it!

Charger Setup

Connect the other part of the connector from the micro torch to the original control board that was inside the torch. then put it all back in the casing so there is no risk of shock. NEVER put your fingers so that they touch the inside metal contacts of the connectors, ESPECIALLY WHILE CHARGING!

USE IT
