Small Birdhouse (from a 1in X 4in X 4ft Board)

Small Birdhouse
Supplies

Supply List
- 1in nails (I used brad nails and a nail gun)
- 1 1/2 in drill bit and drill
- Wood glue
- 1in x 4in x 4ft board
- Miter saw
Cut List

Cut list
- 3 Qty 6 1/2 in 1x4 (will be cutting a board width off one in the next step)
- 2 Qty 4 in 1x4
- 2 Qty 5 1/4 1x4 (one end has peak from two 45 degree cuts, 5 1/4 in to the peak and 3 1/2 in at the sides)
Cut Roof

take 2 of the 6 1/2 in boards and use one as a mark edge to mark and remove 3/4 in off the width of one board so when they come together the roof is even length on both sides.
Cut Hole in Front

cut a hole in the center of one of the 5 1/4 in boards using 1 1/2 in drill bit with a piece of scrap underneath the board you are cutting
Assemble Walls

Use glue and nails to attach the two 4 in wall boards to the two 5 1/4 in front and back boards making sure they stay flush with each other on the bottom and outside edges.
Install Bottom

use one of the 6 1/2 in boards as the floor and install it using glue and nails with the back end flush with the back wall to give a nice landing spot in the front.
Assemble and Attach Roof

use the last two 6 1/2 in boards and attach them together first using glue and nails making sure the narrower board is on the inside of the wider board (so the roof is even. reference step 2) then glue and nail the roof to the top of the birdhouse making sure to have a even overhang on the front and back.
