Skull Speaker

We had to make speakers for a DT class, so I decided to make a speaker/guitar amplifyer that would look like a skull and would be metal-themed. So here is the process for making it:

Making a 3D Model

The first step to making this product is making the 3D model of the skull. It can be either a model downloaded from the internet or created manually. I personally downloaded the model from the internet and using fusion 360 modeled it. The skull should have its jaw and upper part separated.

Printing

After the model is done, it should be 3D printed. Notice: it might take hours to do it. After the printing is finished, the skull should be made hollow and should have all the 3D extra parts taken out (that are added while printing).

Painting

Since the skull printed would most likely be brown/white or whatever colour the raw 3D model is. I coloured my speaker in black, but it can be any other colour, including different ornaments or patterns on top. Preffered aesthetic is a choice.

Making the Circuit

The circuit is what makes the speaker work. It has to connect details together with batteries, the speaker, switch and the plug. The circuit should be soldered exactly like in the picture.

Putting Everything Together

When thecircuit is finished, it's time to glue it to the skull. Using a hot glue gun is fine. Since the jaw and the top of the skull were separated, the speaker should fit in the mouth now. So as the scaling is correct, the jaw should be glued to the other part of the skull so that the speaker would be fixed between the teeth. Then, the battery pack connected to the circuit should be stuffed inside the skull together with the circuit board while the switch probably should be outside of it with wires staying inside.

After all this, the product should be finished and working (if the circuit was made correctly). The final product should look like that.
