Ski Wheelz

IMG_4193.JPG

A device to make transporting skis easier. On the occasion that I go skiing caring the skis around to the lifts is painful so I made a helpful and lightweight tool.

Prototype

this was the very first idea of it, it had no suspension and was a simple 2d image

wooden prototype: just a basic wooden form/ idea, this was after the 2d image, i made it using a band saw and screws.

Make Cad

this was the sort of more official cad, it has more measurements and this is similar to what I printed in the next step, but this is still a prototype. I no longer have the actual measurements but you can print out what i have on the next step

Print Everything Out

measure skis width (together) and top width this is the part that will hold your skis, I would recommend making a hole for a dowel in the chassis and a spot for the springs to mount

legs: I made mine about 5 inches long and about 1/2 and inch thick, I also made holes in the cad for the dowels to fit

I lost the fusion file for the body but I still have the cura file and put it below:

and same for the arms, make 2 of them, cura file below:

Assemble Parts

this step mostly consists of putting the legs onto the body and attaching the wheels to the legs, my version is still sort of a concept kida thing so I took some liberties in how i attached everything. I used plastic for the axles but I would recommend using metal instead. I also used washers to stop the axle from moving around. Then use some foam to the sides of the body to prevent scratching the skis and to make sure they wont slip out. I used hot glue to attach the dowels to the wheels and same for the body/ legs, I secured the springs with screws on the body and fitted them on the axle

Test

Get your skis and make sure it fit and doesn't break the legs when weight is applied, you may need to modify foam thickness and body width, or even use rubber in replacement for the foam.
