Simple Hand Cleaner
Had to upload a picture of baking soda and dish detergent. Instructables is so cool!
Materials:
Dish washing detergent (Sunlight or generic equivalent)
Baking soda
I was working on my recumbent trike, replacing a derailleur wheel that had fallen off. My hands became covered in chain oil and dirt. Once I was finished, I needed to clean my hands but I didn't have any GoJo or other form of hand cleaner.
I tried dish washing detergent but it wasn't quite working so what I did was made sure my hands were lathered up with the detergent then sprinkled baking soda on them. After a little bit of scrubbing, my hands were extremely clean. Surprised me a lot that it would work that well. Baking soda is a grease remover and so is dish detergent. Together they clean very well. I definitely won't be buying hand cleaner any time soon.
This is more eco-friendly, harmless, and cheaper than other methods. It might work on engine grease or other things, not sure as I haven't had the need to try it on the other things yet.
Please let me know if you try this and if it works for you.
Sincerely,
Keith
