Simple Wooden Coasters

I use a wooden desk to work on and after leaving drinks on the wood too long I started to develop rings, so I carved out some pieces of wood in order to hold my drinks. These wooden coasters are so simple anyone can make them, truly you only need some wood and a saw to make these, but the beauty of them being so simple is that you can customize them however you like.

Supplies

Any size wood board, band saw, belt sander, carving knife/chisel (optional)

Picking Out the Wood

The best part about these coasters is that you can use any wood of any size, I personally used just some scrap pine wood that was lying around.

Cutting

Once you have picked out the wood you want, you need to do a bit of research as the size of the cups that you use will determine the size of the coasters, since I use relatively small to medium-sized cups I cut my wood down to 3 by 3 inches using a band saw.

Sanding

Because you don't want to get splinters randomly while getting your drink make sure to sand down the wooden coasters, I used a band sander, but any sander will do, even just regular sand paper will work since the wood isn't very big.

Customization

Since these coasters are so simple, you have the freedom to customize them however you like, whether that be staining them, carving pictures into them, or just leaving them as is, these small cup coasters are only limited by your imagination, and tools I guess.
