Simple Soldering Fume Extractor
Hi, In this instructable, I’ll try to show you how to make a very simple fume extractor that you can use while soldering.
Supplies
A fan: any suitable size (I’m using 8*8 cm 12V 0.15A)
A power supply for the fan
Some cleaning cloth or carbon filter cloth (preferred)
DC Connector and male-male jumper cables (to connect the fan to the power supply)
A box to attach to the fan (I used the fan's own box)
Cutting the Box for the Fan
After obtaining all the materials, first thing we need to do is to cut the fan's box on both sides that we make sure there's enough space for the air to flow.
Attaching the Fan to the Box
I used tape to attach the fan to the box, it's the easiest way I think. But you can use duct tape or any other material (glue, etc.) to attach the fan and the box together. Then I trimmed the excess tape on the fan.
Cutting the Cloth and Inserting Into the Box
Cut the cleaning cloth or carbon filter cloth to match the size of the box and insert the piece at the back end of the box.
Connect the Power Supply to the Fan by the DC Connector and the Jumper Cables
No other explanation necessary, enjoy soldering with your fume extractor!
(Be careful while placing it when it's on: since there's no shield on the fan, you may hurt your fingers. And don't forget to ventilate your room even if you use any fume extractor)
