Simple Needle Book

Tutorial to make a simple needle book.

Supplies

7.75" x 5" - Cut 3 coordinating fabric (Cover, Lining & pocket)

7.75" x 5" - 1 piece of fusible fleece (To fuse to cover)

6.25" x 4" - 2 pieces of felt (Pages in needle book)

6" piece of matching fold over elastic (closure)

Choose the 7.75" x 5" piece of fabric for the cover. Iron fusible fleece (per product instructions) to backside of cover fabric.

Choose the 7.75" x 5" piece of fabric for the pocket. Fold in half with right side out, iron. Sew 1/4 from folded edge.

Assemble sandwich. Place cover pretty side up, place elastic to the left - 1 inch from the edge pretty side down, place the pocket lenghtwise with folded side up & cut side on bottom, then place lining pretty side down. Pin leaving about 1.5 inches open ( between red pins) for turning. Sew around sandwich with 1/4 inch seam, leaving turning section open. Clip corners close to stitching.

Turn and push out corners. Iron. Sew around edge, taking care not to sew over elastic - use 1/8" seam.

Add pages.jpeg

Turn needle book over with pocket side up. Center 2 pieces of felt on needle book lining/pocket. Sew down the center to create pages. Be sure to back tack at top and bottom.
