Simple Magnetic Parts Holder
I was looking to make a quick parts holder for a outdoor project I was working on. Using a salvaged hard drive magnet as the holder, I was able to fit eight 2-1/2", sixteen 1-1/2" screws, and a drill key chuck on my simple D.I.Y. magnetic parts holder.
Parts Required

-Either find a hard drive magnet that was salvaged or salvage the two magnets from a broken/ obsolete hard drive
-The magnetic parts you wish to attach

Attach to Magnet
Steps
1. Always start by attaching the longest parts to the magnet, this provide extra room for laying even out more parts on top of the first layer. In my case, I started with eight 2-1/2" screws.
2. Lay out your parts so they best fit on your parts holder. In my case, I alternated the position of the screws.
3. Start your second layer and utilize the best layout for your specific parts. I added another layer of sixteen 1-1/2" screws.
4. Add additional parts if so desired. I attached a drill bit chuck.
Pro-Tip
Of the two magnets in a hard drive, I used the flat magnet to better suit my needs. I assume that most magnets look very similar to mine. If you would like to, you could attach this magnetic parts holder to your belt or other objects by either using the two screw holes or by attaching velcro to the back of the magnet and your desired mounting surface.
