Simple Machine - Tiny Wagon

Simple Machine: Wheel and Axle Mini Wagon

Materials

Materials List
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • 2 Toothpicks
  • Glue or Tape
  • Ruler (optional)
  • Pencil

Cardboard

  1. Measure out a rectangular base. Make sure that the width of the cardboard is smaller then the length of your toothpicks.
  2. Add a 1 1/2 inches to your cardboard rectangle that you just measured.
  3. Cut four circles that are all the same size (I did 2 inches).
  4. Mark the middle of your circles.
  5. Cut 1 inch by 1 inch squares into each of your rectangles corners

Tape Time

  1. Grab your cardboard rectangle and fold up your flaps, using tape or glue secure them to each other.
  2. Using a tooth pick, poke holes in the middle of your circles (where you made the mark).

Toothpicks

  1. Place your cardboard circles on both ends of your toothpicks.
  2. Make sure that your cardboard box will fit in between your circles, on top of the toothpicks.
  3. Place a piece of tape or a drop of glue on the ends of your toothpick to make sure your wheels won't fall off (optional).

Completed Wagon

  1. Flip your box upside down and place your wheels and axles evenly spaced on top.
  2. Using a piece of leftover cardboard cut two small strips.
  3. Place a strip over each toothpick.
  4. Secure them with tape or glue.
