Simple Leather Phone Sleeve Made Out of Leather Samples

I got my hands on some samples from a leather working company, and I decided to try something new.

In this project I want to show you how to make a leather sleeve for your phone.

You don't need any experience in leather working for this project, nor do you need any specialist tools.

For this project, you will need:

• a sharp knife (the sharper, the better)
• a hole puncher
• a ruler
• a pen, pencil, marker, ...
• a piece of leather string
• a leather sample (big enough, like 15cm x 20cm)

Measure the width of our phone. The piece of leather needs to be twice the width of your phone, plus 3cm.

My phone is 7,5cm wide, so i used a piece of 18cm wide.

For height, use the same as the height of your phone.

Use your knife to cut it out. For some types of leather it's best to cut on the rough side.

Draw a line perpendicular to, and 5mm away from the edges.

Do this for both the short edges, and one long edge.

Make a mark every 5mm along the lines we just drew.

Use the hole punch tool to punch out holes on those marks. I used one with a 25mm diameter, but check the width of your string and adapt if necessary.

To start, tie a knot on the end of your leather string.

As you can se in the photo, I didn't punch out the hole exactly in the middle. If the amount of holes you made is an even number, you don't need to leave out any holes.

Pull the string through the hole next to the middle, with the knot on the smooth side of the leather.

Next, pull the rope through the hole on the other side

Swing the string around to the front again, and pull it through the next hole.

Repeat this step untill you reach the end.

When you've reached the end, simply tie another knot as close to the leather as possible.

Cut off the remaining piece of string.

There you have it, it's as simple as that. now you have your own leather sleeve for your phone!
