For those who would like to add a little soft light to their meditation practice.

Materials

  • Fairy copper wire LED lights (40 LED lights are on this strand)
  • One 556 Ohm Resistor (if you have fewer than 40 LED lights, you may want to choose a smaller resistor)
  • Clear glass jar (this one is a tea jar)
  • prayer/meditation bowl
  • (optional) textured rice paper
  • Two small magnets
  • One 9V battery pack

Step 1: Add Copper Tape to the Bottom of Prayer Bowl

Remove the fairy lights from the AC adapter (you can just cut them off with wire cutters).

Place the negative wires from the 9V battery pack and the fairy lights underneath the magnet and affix them to the bowl with copper tape.

Steps 3 and 4: Add Power, a Resistor and a Magnet to the Fairy Lights

Solder one end of a 556 Ohm resistor to one end of positive copper wire. Tape the other end of the resistor to the positive wire on the 9V battery pack.

Using copper tape, add a magnet to the other end of the positive copper wire.

Step 5: Complete the Circuit

Place the LED lights and battery pack inside a clear glass jar. You can line the jar with a textured paper to diffuse the light a bit.

Touch the magnets together to complete the circuit.
