How to make an inverter

Hello, I am going to teach you how to make an inverter. Check this video out for better understanding.

Supplies

You will need:

  1. Wires
  2. DC motor
  3. Transformer
  4. Extra stuff such as a multimeter, soldering iron, a power supply/batter, etc

The Schematic

If you look at the schematic, we have 5 volt going into one side of the motor while ground going through and inductor into the other side of the motor. By inductor, I mean a transformer. Technically a transformer is two inductors in one. And yes, I understand that a transformer may or may not have more than two inductors. To simplify the explanation, you will be powering the motor which switches on and off the transformer.

Cut the Motor

We first will have to cut one bolt off the motor. What I mean by cutting on bolt, I mean cut two wires off of one bolt so that when the motor spins, it switches.

Build the Circuit

I apologize for the pixelated picture that I provided you with. Follow the schematic and you will be able to build the circuit like I did. Lets see what happens if we turn it on.

As we know, transformers store energy in the form of electromagnetic fields transfering one inductor containing that energy to the other. You will get a voltage higher than the input depending on your transformer and it's properties. This also may include your dc motor and it's voltage ratings.
