Simple DIY Go Kart Rack (2 Hour Build From 2X4 Lumber)

I’d like to share a space-saving solution for storing go-karts. With three go-karts taking up floor space in my garage, I designed a mobile rack that stores them in an upright position. This not only frees up space but also makes it easy to move the go-karts around.

The build is straightforward and can be completed in just a couple of hours using only a table saw and miter saw. No special tools are required.

Supplies

Tools:

  1. Miter saw
  2. Table saw

Materials:

  1. 2 x 4 stud lumber

Some features of this design:

  1. The base of this rack should be wide and deep enough to support the back of the go-kart, which is stored in an upright, slightly angled position.
  2. A vertical post with a crossbar provides additional support for the go-kart body while in storage.A pull handle is attached to the rack to easily transition the go-kart between upright and laid-down positions.
  3. A bungee cord secures the kart further.
  4. Four caster wheels on the base make the rack fully mobile.

Cut the 2x4 lumber to match the dimensions of your go-kart. Assemble the pieces according to the structure and design provided in the previous section. Finally, add the pull handle, bungee cord, and caster wheels, and you’re all set! I hope this guide is helpful—see you in the next one!
