Instead of throwing away your water bottle, try upcycling it as the base of this simple bangle bracelet, suitable for any jewelry-making beginner.

Materials List

To make this bracelet, you will need to gather up the following materials:

  • two fabric Fat Quarters in a design or color of your choice
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • small plastic beverage bottle with at least 3" or larger straight section
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • permanent marker

Prep Fabric

Start prepping the fabric by cutting it into about 1/2" strips. Set them aside for later.

Prep Beverage Bottle

Now, prep the beverage bottle, by cutting off the bottom part. Then, cut the bottle into several pieces, making sure that the circumference around is at least 3 inches. Mine is about 2.5", but it would still fit around my wrist.

Wrap Fabric

From there, using bits of hot glue, glue the strips of fabric to the bottle ring, by wrapping it around the ring, and securing it in place with a dot of glue. Keep doing this around the ring, until it's completely covered. Then, let dry.

Ready to Wear

Now, it's ready to wear! You can several of these bangles out of one water bottle. However, you can use any other materials that you might already have to serve as the base of the bangles. For instance, I used an empty lace spool as you can see on the bottom.
