Simple 3D Printed Cereal Dispenser

Welcome to this guide on creating a 3D-printed cereal dispenser! This project allows you to dispense your favourite breakfast cereals in a fun and convenient way!

It isn't just limited to cereal, however! You can modify my design to suit your own needs such as a spice dispenser or more!

You will only need the following items:

• Some cereal
• 3D printer
• Filament (Use food-safe filaments!)

Filaments such as PLA should be used to print our cereal dispenser since they are generally considered non-toxic and safe. If you want to know what filaments are safe and what isn't for this project, I would recommend using filament listed on these websites!

• Formlabs
• All3DP

The first step was to design our cereal dispenser!

I used a simple CAD software known as Tinkercad to create all the necessary components.

It consisted of a main body, a lid, a handle and of course the blade that pushed cereal out.

Once I finalized the design, it was time to 3D print the parts.

I used Cura to prepare the files for printing and using a fast speed profile, I printed with the following settings:

• 0.28mm layer height
• 10% Infil
• Tree Supports Enabled

I also ended up splitting the main body into two pieces and gluing them together later on.

After printing, carefully remove any supports and clean up the edges of the printed parts using sandpaper if necessary.

Then, glue the top lid on using some (food-safe) glue! Afterwards, you can simply insert the handle through the hole at the front of the main body, then attach the blade and then slip the handle through until it reaches the end hole.

Now you're done!

If you ever want to refill your cereal dispenser, just pull the handle out and you can refill the dispenser from the bottom of the body!

Now, fill it up with your favourite brand of cereal and you're good to go!

Now, this design is more of a prototype as there are still plenty of improvements that could be added to make this better!

For example, you could make this with proper food-safe materials instead of using a PLA with an FDM 3D Printer.

Additionally, you could also significantly scale up the dispenser in order to fit a whole bowl underneath it or, alternatively, scale it down and turn it into a spice/salt dispenser!

The improvements are limitless!
