In this step your going to want to wait at least 10 seconds before touching the bag and bringing it out, so you don't burn yourself.

Why Does It Do This?

Most chip bags are made of a type of plastic called metallized film. This film is designed to keep moisture and air out, which helps to keep the chips fresh.

When you microwave the bag, the heat causes the air inside the bag to expand. However, because the bag is made of a thin, flexible material, it cannot withstand the pressure from the expanding air. As a result, the air pushes against the sides of the bag, causing it to shrink and crinkle.

Additionally, the metallized film contains thin layers of metal, typically aluminum, which can cause sparks and potentially start a fire if microwaved for too long. When you do this you must have parental supervision.
