Shrinking Mini Candy Bag Earrings

My sister an I made these mini candy bags into earrings and a keychain. You can also use them for childrens toys.

It was quite fun to do, but they didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. They were a bit too wrinkly! So if you have tried this and have any ideas, please share! :)

What you need:

  • Earrings (buy in any hobby store)
  • Keychain
  • Candy bags
  • Holepuncher
  • Pliers
  • Oven

Candy Bags Before Oven

Use the holepuncher to make holes in the candy bag. We figured that three holes were enough to get the candy out.

The holes are also for the earrings later, so make sure that you don't rip the bag!

If the bags are wrinkly, flatten them under a heavy book.

Turn on the oven, 200 degrees Celsius.

Put in one candy bag at a time. The process takes about 3-5 min. They curl up and get really wrinkly, and you have to be really fast with flattening them when you take them out of the oven. Most of the time you are too slow, but you can just put them right back in again.

Be careful not to touch with your bare hands!

And also make sure to open a window so you don't inhale all of the plastic fumes!

Use the pliers to bend the ring.

And there you go! These are really fun to make, but as I said before, they turned out a bit more wrinkly than expected.

Hope you like it :)
