Have you ever imagined what it would look like if an entire army of Shrek characters marched straight out of a fairytale? In this fun and creative DIY project, we bring that vision to life! Using printed cutouts, a few crafty stands, and a custom-built backdrop, we’ve created a dynamic 3D diorama that makes it look like an endless Shrek parade is charging toward the viewer. With simple materials and a playful design, this project is perfect for fans of animation, creative setups, or anyone who enjoys working with paper and scenes.
Supplies
- Shrek Collage printout (same size, color printed)
- Scissors or a precision craft knife
- Glue or hot glue gun
- Styrofoam Sheet
- Thick Plastic Sheet
- Printed sky and landscape backgrounds
Character Cutting

- Print multiple copies of the Shrek character in the same size.
- Carefully cut out each Shrek image using scissors or a craft knife.
- Make sure to keep the arm and face edges clean and crisp.
Making the Stand

- Cut small hard plastic strips, fold them into L-shaped stands.
- Attach the base of each Shrek cutout to its stand using glue.
- Make sure each cutout stands upright steadily without tilting.
Setting the Shrek Animation Line

- Start from the back to the front while placing each Shrek cutout.
- Arrange them in a straight line with equal spacing.
- Ensure all characters are aligned in the same direction for visual flow.
- Now use a phone camera to record the trail. This is the most exciting as well as challenging part. The challenge is to keep the characters centered while pulling the camera behind in a straight line. If done right, the result is very rewarding.
Conclusion

This Shrek army scene is not just a visual treat but also a fantastic exercise in layering, perspective, and imagination. By repeating one iconic character and arranging him thoughtfully, we create depth, motion, and a bit of storytelling—all in a small space.
