This will be made as a shoelace tightener

Supplies

you will need a 3D printer, a pen spring, and a computer.

Gathering the Supplies

you will need a pen spring to be cut in half, and you will also need any 3D printer with filament, and a computer to make the print on.

Make a New Project

Using TinkerCad, you will have to create a new document, and name it what you like so you do not forget where it is.

Making Base Cylinder

Screenshot 2022-12-14 1.20.30 PM.png

you will use shapes to make this product, and make the base cylinder 1 inch in diameter, and 1 inch tall. put a hole in it all the way through the top, and not all the way through the side, 1/2 inch in diameter.

Making Side Button

This piece will be a cylinder, 1/2 inch tall with a diameter of 1/2 inch. The base will have a bit bigger diameter than the cylinder you just put. it will have a rectangle hole through the cylinder 3/8 of an inch up from the printing area, with a height of 0.3 inch and a width of 1/4 inch.

Printing

Using TinkerCad, download your print as an .STL file. Putting it onto your printer will vary depending on what printer you have.

Assembly

you will then use the spring, and the two 3D printed parts and sand them down so the shaft will fit in the hole. you will then hot glue the spring to the inside of the main cylinder, and the end of your button that will go inside of the cylinder. The rectangle hole in the button should be facing so that you can fit shoelaces inside the cylinder and through the button shaft.
