Shoe Cabinet / Entry Table to Make the Wife Happy
The best thing about it is that i gave my wife the best present ever.. the present of and organized and good looking entryway.. she loved it.. and it's a great conversation piece cause i get to show off my handyman skills as soon as people step into the door
As any house we have plenty of shoes that usually litter the entry way.. i tried to small shoe organizer you can buy at the store but they looked as ugly as the shoes laying by the entryway themselves.. also they held very limited amount of shoes.. and it wasted the sapace where an entry table should belong..
My wife bought an entry table in the internet.. of course without measuring how small the wall was.. it was too large and we couldn't keep it there.. and it didnt solve the shoe problem..
So i had some letfover wood from my old desk.. that i had also made with some wood and some two by fours.. hence the weird measurements in my shoe cabinet..
i did the best of putting my measurements but if i was you guys i would take this idea.. and change your measurements to fit your space..
This bad boy will fit a lot of shoes.. i'm yet to fill it up.. So we put other stuff like umbrellas and dog leashes.. and use the top for our keys and random items

Make the Frame, Paint It, Add Hardware
i used left over 1/2 in hardwood plywood.. i had the guy at the store cut the plywood for me.. the bigger the cheaper.. so i usually get the 4 by 8 and use the left over plywood in other projects.. maybe a floating entertainment system... or a floating hookah storage and exibition cabinet... or a coffee table .. all which i will have instructables up soon
anyways make the frame.. then add a 1 x 2 x 8 Premium Furring Strip frame around it.. like i did here.. the middle and the top will need some reinforcements to keep the weight of the door from pushing it in..
Add Reinforcements to hold up your perforated wood pieces.. (i used this.. because is cheap, but you can use a tin wood if u like).. i used common shoes to make my spacing... like the top is not very high... we usually keep sandals there.. middle is tall enough for sneakers.. and the bottom is meant for boots.. i eyeballed the measurements .. just keep them the same on both sides :)
the back is also made of perforated wood. one because its cheap and you dont see it..
I used 1 x 4 x 8 Furring Strip to make the legs.. i like this because it's perfect to elevate your furniture pass the trim around the house and keeps it snug when you put it against the wall..
once all the wood is put together i used the darkest stain i could find with a sealer already included.. i did two coats to maximize the darkness and give it a good seal.
I used flush hinges and some kitchen stainless steel hardware.. dont commit my mistake.. paint and then add the hardware :)

Add Your Locks.. Hang a Nice Picture on Top.. and Surprise Your Wife
I Started this project in the morning.. so by the time my wife got back from work.. it was ready to show my wife (except she couldnt touch it cause it wasnt dry)
The doors wouldnt stay closed.. so i went and bought some of those magnet locks.. it was strong enough to keep it closed..
also the door wil open way too much.. so i used some hooks and some string to keep it from opening way too much.. you can buy some hinges that do the same thing..
My wife loved her new gift.. so i hope you guys like it too
