Shockmount for Mobile Audio Recorder

I already had a Mobile Audio Recorder and I wanted to add it to my camera for better audio recordings. Doing this directly with a hot shoe adapter is fine but you record every gripp noises when handling the camera.

The professional solution was too expansive and the affordable one too much plastic. Goal was a cheap (for me it was nearly free) and very lightweight shockmount from a clothes hanger.

You need:

• 1 cloths hanger
• 4 rubber bands
• litte piece of bicycle tube (not shown here)
• non tear thread
• 2 hot shoe adapters (bought a pack of four for €5 on amazon)

Cut the hangers hook and start bending. I used a electrician pliers. Using a plier with a finer tip would result in sharper angles. The dimmensions fit my audio recorder as I wanted to use the display and all the buttons. Change depending on your recorder.

Use one end of the hanger and form the first end of the mount. Somehow I managed to use all the wire at the last end of the mount. Twirl the ends together or fix them with thread.

Use one hot shoe adapter and one disc from the second one. This discs have a flat and a crooked side. Putting two crooked sides together fixes the wire nicely.

Add a small piece of a bicycle tube between the two discs so they screw firmly. It also helps to align the mount.

Use a thread that is hard to tear to make a solid structure for the wires. This solution is very lightweight, cheap and will not break. Alternatively use zip ties.

Mount the recorder with rubber bands.

The video shows the smoothing out of heavy shaking with the camera. For me it works perfectly.
